Iraqi premier has sacked three Baghdad security chiefs following a devastating bombing in the capital. Prime Minister’s Haider Al Abdi’s office confirmed yesterday, hours after another attack to the north left 40 dead.

Suicide bombers and gunmen have killed at least 40 people and injured 50 others in an attack at a shrine in Balad, north of capital Baghdad on Friday. Officials said, one bomber blew himself up outside the mausoleum, which was then stormed by gunmen.

Another bomber blew himself up among fleeing worshippers. Initial reports said, Islamic State group had claimed the attack.

Prime Minister’s office also confirmed that he had accepted the interior minister’s resignation, which was submitted following the Sunday bombing in Baghdad that killed 292 people. Islamic State claimed the responsibility and said it carried out the latest attack ,on a Shiite shrine in the town of Balad , as well as the blast in Baghdad.
