Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) today denied its involvement in drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh on March 3, claiming it was carried out by Israel, reports, Press TV.
The statement came after The Wall Street Journal published a report saying the Iranian attack was more damaging than Saudi authorities acknowledged.
The Journal said while the Saudi Defence Ministry had described a limited fire and minor damage, the blaze had in fact burned for hours and caused extensive destruction.
The IRGC condemned the Journal’s report and claimed the attack “has absolutely nothing to do with the Iranian armed forces” and given the Israeli strategy in the region, it was “certainly carried out by Zionists”.
In a statement released on Saturday, the IRGC referred to a report by The Wall Street Journal that claimed the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia’s capital had been attacked.
The IRGC strongly condemned the incident and stated, “This event has absolutely no connection to the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The statement added that given Israel’s strategy in the region, the attack was “definitely carried out by the Zionists.”
The IRGC also pointed out that the target bank of Iran’s armed forces has been clearly announced in advance, and that necessary warnings about the Israeli regime’s seditious activities have been given to neighboring and Muslim countries.
