President Ram Nath Kovind today said that India’s constitution is not static but dynamic. Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Constitution Day in New Delhi, Mr Kovind said, Constitution empowers people as much as people empower Constitution.
He said, the Constitution is not an abstract idea but it has to be made meaningful to the ordinary people of every village and mohalla of the nation. Mr Kovind said, the constitution has to connect to the lives of common people.
The President said, the greatest challenge before the higher judiciary is that the process of disposal of cases has to be made faster and efforts should be made to bring justice to people.
Mr Kovind stressed that judgment copies must be given in local and regional languages for the benefit of citizens.
The President noted, the legislative sanctity of Parliament is important but so is that of every gram panchayat.
Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra and Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad were also present on the occasion.
