The Indian Navy put on a spectacular display of operational capability and maritime heritage at the International City Parade held at RK Beach Road in Visakhapatnam today. The parade, a major public outreach event of the International Fleet Review, featured precision air operations, combat demonstrations, marching contingents and vibrant cultural performances, drawing large crowds along the coastline.
Addressing the gathering, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer described the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2026 as a magnificent display of naval capability and technological excellence. He said the International City Parade carried that spirit ashore, transforming strategic military strength into a celebration shared with citizens. He praised the participation of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and foreign contingents, calling it a symbol of unity and international friendship.
Chief of Naval Staff Dinesh K. Tripathi termed the parade a signature highlight of IFR and MILAN 2026, blending cultural vibrancy with the discipline and pride of uniformed personnel from across the globe. He reaffirmed the Indian Navy’s commitment to working with friendly nations to ensure safe, secure and open seas.
The programme began with an impressive air display. Chetak helicopters flew in banner formation, followed by search-and-rescue simulations, including casualty evacuation at sea. MiG-29K fighter aircraft performed combat manoeuvres and low-level precision flying.
Marching contingents and military bands from the armed forces and foreign participants added ceremonial grandeur to the parade. Cadets from the National Cadet Corps, Sea Cadet Corps and Navy Children School also took part.
The cultural segment featured a hornpipe dance by girl cadets of the Eastern Naval Command and colourful tableaux highlighting India’s maritime legacy. The celebrations concluded with the ceremonial illumination of ships anchored offshore, followed by a synchronised fireworks display, laser show and drone formations.
