Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s MSME sector was doing well with the support of the government. He said, all small economic activities are contributing to the development of the country.

Inaugurating the Global Patidar Business Summit -GPBS held at Surat in Gujarat through video conferencing, the Prime Minister said that India has so many resources; we just have to strengthen our self-confidence and spirit of self-reliance for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

He said, this confidence will come only when there is participation of everyone in development. Mr Modi said that the Production Linked Incentive Scheme has not only filled the enthusiasm of Make in India in the old sectors, but also created possibilities for the development of new sectors like semiconductors.

The three-day Global Patidar Business Summit is being held at Sardardham in Surat under Mission-2026 to provide an impetus to the socio-economic development of the community.

The Prime Minister said that it is the constant endeavor of the government through its policies and actions that even the youth of ordinary families become entrepreneurs. He said that the Mudra Yojana is giving encouragement to those people of the country to do their business, who never even thought about it.

The Summit is organized every two years. The first two Summits were held in Gandhinagar in 2018 and 2020 and the current Summit is now being held in Surat. The main theme of GPBS-2022 is ‘Aatmanirbhar Community to Aatmanirbhar Gujarat and Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

The Summit aims to bring together small, medium and large enterprises within the community, nurture and support new entrepreneurs and provide training and employment assistance to the educated youth. It will also discuss the various aspects of government industrial policy, MSMEs, start-ups and innovation among others.
