A six-member team from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi and the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Pahalgam, successfully summited Mount Aconcagua in Argentina. The team was ceremonially flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the 5th of this month.
The Defence Ministry said that this achievement underscores country’s rising stature in international mountaineering and the world-class training standards of the premier mountaineering institutes of the country. Mount Aconcagua is the highest peak in South America and the second-highest peak in the world outside of Asia. AIR
