India won the first test against West Indies by an innings and 272 runs. West Indies were all out for 196 in their second innings. Kuldeep Yadav’s maiden 5-wicket haul tumbled the visitors, while Ravindra Jadeja bagged 3 wickets and R Ashwin dismissed 3 in the second innings.

Earlier in the day, Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin produced a brilliant spell as India enforced a follow-on against the West Indies after bowling out the visitors for 181 in their first innings.

EARLIER West Indies were all out for 181 in their first innings in the morning session in reply to Indiaโ€™s mammoth 649 for 9 declared and the home side imposed the follow-on. At tea in their second innings, the visitors were still trailing by 283 runs with just two second innings wickets in hand.
