India moved to Tier-1 of Department of Commerce’s Strategic Trade Authorization licence exception

India has welcomed the US Government’s decision to move it into Tier-1 of the Department of Commerce’s Strategic Trade Authorization license exception. In a press release, the External Affairs Ministry said, India said it is looking forward to the US side operationalizing the decision at an early date.
It said, it is a logical culmination to India’s designation as a Major Defense Partner of the US and a reaffirmation of India’s impeccable record as a responsible member of the concerned multilateral export control regimes. The MEA said, this step will further facilitate India-U.S. trade and technology collaboration in defence and high technology areas.
