India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today asserted India wants that the Indo-China border tension to end and peace preserved, at the same time will not let anyone take even an inch of our land.
Mr. Singh made these remarks after performing ‘Shastra Puja’ at Sukna War Memorial in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane was also present at the occasion.
Defence minister said, India wants that the Indo-China border tension should end and peace should be preserved. He said, India is persistent in its goal of peace. Mr. Singh expressed confidence that the army will not let anyone take even an inch of the country’s land. He also inspected a Tavor assault rifle at Sukna War Memorial in Darjeeling.
Defence Minister said, whatever happened at Indo-China border at Ladakh recently and the way our Jawans responded bravely, historians will write about the valour and courage of our jawans in golden words.
Yesterday, the Defence Minister as part of his two-day visit to West Bengal and Sikkim visited the Headquarters of 33 Corps at Sukna in Darjeeling and reviewed the situation and preparedness in the Eastern Sector. He also greeted the soldiers on the occasion of Dussehra. The Defence Minister is on a two-day visit to West Bengal and Sikkim.
Union defence minister Rajnath Singh has said that infrastructure development in the Northeast has been continuously strengthening under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Prime Minister is continuously monitoring projects and the Border Roads Organisation’s (BRO) budget has increased from Rs 3,000-4,000 crores to Rs 11,000 crores in the last five to six years. Mr Singh was addressing the virtual inauguration of an alternative alignment route on NH310 connecting Sikkim’s capital Gangtok to NathuLa today.
Mr Singh said that the government has been focusing on construction of roads, bridges, tunnels and infrastructure development along border areas.
The defence minister said that this government has opened up new avenues of border area development including road construction, breaking the notion that developed road infrastructure along borders may act against our interest in adverse conditions.
