India has signed a civil nuclear pact with United Kingdom on the very first day of the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to London Thursday evening. The deal was signed during delegation level talks between Mr. Modi and his British counterpart David Cameron.
During a press conference, Mr. Modi said that the signing of agreement is a symbol of faith between both the nations.
Mr. Modi thanked Mr. Cameron when the later announced that UK supports India’s bid for permanent membership of UN Security Council. He said that the progress of India is the destiny of one sixth of humanity.
Mr Modi said that India values UK’s cooperation in security and safety which include defence trade and regular joint exercises and this cooperation will increase.
Dwelling on the vision of Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas he said India would open new doors in the services sector.
Describing India as the land of Gandhi and Buddha, Prime Minister said, there is no place for intolerance in India.
Addressing a specially called joint session of Parliament, Mr. Modi said the world must speak in one voice and act in unison to combat terrorism and we must adopt a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the UN without delay. He said we need a social movement against extremism in countries where it is most prevalent and, every effort to delink religion and terrorism. He is the first serving Prime Minister of India to address the UK’s Parliament.
Mr Modi will address Indian community at Wembley stadium in London today.
