India and UAE today signed an agreement on Currency Swap and MoU for Development Cooperation in Africa. The documents were signed after the 12th session of India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting for Economic and Technical Cooperation which was jointly co-chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan here .
During the meeting, the two leaders held exhaustive discussions on cooperation in energy, security, trade, investments, space and defence, among others.
Both leaders also jointly inaugurated the Gandhi-Zayed Digital Museum in Abu Dhabi. The inauguration commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 100th birth anniversary of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the modern UAE.
Ms Swaraj and Sheikh Abdullah had announced the museum, a first-of-its-kind India -UAE exhibition aligning with the ‘Year of Zayed’ programmes, during Sheikh Abdullah’s visit to India in June this year.
The museum’s interactive digital content will showcase rare photos, videos and objects representing the life, works and philosophies of both renowned leaders using cutting-edge technologies. It will also reaffirm the historical ties and shared values of peace, tolerance and sustainability between the UAE and India.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is on a two-day visit to UAE. The Minister is also scheduled for an interaction with the Indian expat community later in the evening.
