India has signed three agreements with Armenia which will further enhance the bilateral relations. The agreements are in the field of cultural co-operation, youth affairs and peaceful use of space.

Briefing media after Vice President M Hamid Ansari’s day long engagement with top Armenian leadership, Secretary East Preeti Saran said, this visit in the silver jubilee year of diplomatic relation has given a new vigour.

She said, the visit of Mr. Ansari has opened new channels for high level talks between the two nations. On behalf of President Pranab Mukherjee, Mr Ansari has invited Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, while the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalabandian has invited India’s External Affairs Minister.

Ms Saran said, such invitations have opened new chapter for more frequent high level visits.

About the agreement on cultural cooperation Ms. Saran said, India is looking forward to ease the visa regime and focus on people to people contact. She also informed that Armenia has welcomed Indian cinema makers to choose Armenia as their destination to shoot.

In reply to a question about peaceful use of space, Joint Secretary Eurasia G.V Srinivas said, India will help Armenia in building satellites, training them in the field and also help in remote sensing data.
