India today strongly rejected the insinuations leveled by Pakistan that it is obstructing the dialogue process between the two countries. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, New Delhi always maintained that there is no global dimension to the Kashmir issue.
He was responding to a media query on Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain’s remarks that India of running away from talks despite Pakistan’s offer of joint-probe in the Pathankot terror attack.
Mr Mamnoon also raked up the Kashmir issue, calling it an unfinished agenda of partition and the main cause of regional tension. Mr Swarup said Pakistan is in illegal occupation of a portion of Kashmir which it needs to vacate and address the suffering caused to the people of the area.
Mr Swarup asserted that externally sponsored terrorism and Pakistan’s repeated interference in India’s internal affairs is a cause of tension not the Kashmir issue.
On China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the spokesperson said the construction of the corridor is illegal as the area falls under India and stressed that there should be no construction in that area. He said part of the corridor is proposed on Indian territory under Pakistan illegal occupation.
