India has registered the highest-ever spike of 2,003 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday. At the same time country’s COVID-19 count climbed to 3,54,065 on June 17, Wednesday.
According to the latest data of the union home ministry, the country has 1,55,227 active coronavirus cases and 1,86,935 have been cured/discharged/migrated. The fatalities count stands at 11,903.
the recovery rate has reached to 52.79 per cent in the country and a total of one lakh 86 thousand 935 people affected with Corona virus have cured so far. During the last 24 hours, six thousand 922 people recovered from this virus. Presently, the total number of active Corona cases in the country is one lakh 55 thousand 227.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry said that a total of 10 thousand 974 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases to three lakh 54,065. India registered the highest death toll today since the outbreak of Corona virus in the country. In one day, a total of two thousand three deaths were reported taking the nationwide toll to 11 thousand 903. With this, the case fatality rate reached to 3.36 per cent.
Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that a total of one lakh 63 thousand 187 tests of Corona virus samples were conducted by the various laboratories in the country within 24 hours. This is the highest number of tests conducted by the laboratories in a single day. So far, 60 lakh 84 thousand 256 tests have been conducted. ICMR is continuously scaling up its testing facilities for COVID-19 by giving approval to government and private laboratories. As of now, total 924 laboratories across India have been given approval to conduct the test for COVID-19 including 674 government laboratories and 250 private laboratories’ chains.
The prime minister praised the heads of states for effective implementation of Centre-state cooperation in the fight against the deadly contagious virus. While asserting that the country’s recovery rate in India is above 50 per cent, the prime minister said, “Today, the recovery rate in India is above 50 per cent … Death of anyone from coronavirus is tragic. For us, the death of even one Indian is discomforting. But it is also true that today India is among the countries in the world with the lowest deaths due to coronavirus.”
Maharashtra coronavirus tally surges to 1,13,445
Health officials on Tuesday detected 2,701 more coronavirus patients in Maharashtra on Tuesday even as 1,409 more patients lost their lives to the deadly virus, taking the fatalities count to 5,537. The number of COVID-19 cases spiked to 1,13,445. The state has 50,044 active cases, 57,851 people have been discharged after recovering from the coronavirus disease.
Gujarat COVID-19 tally increases to 24,628
With 524 fresh coronavirus infections reported in on Tuesday, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 24,628 in Gujarat. 1,534 people have succumbed to the deadly virus in the state. 418 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recoveries to 17,090.
Delhi govt to use rapid antigen COVID-19 detection kit
For faster diagnosis and effective prevention of the COVID-19 infection, the Centre has asked the Delhi government to use Standard Q COVID-19 Ag detection kit (rapid antigen test kits) with the RT-PCR test in containment zones and hospitals. The state has 57,851 active cases, 5,537 have been discharged after recovering, 50,044, people tested so far 6,84,268.
Solicitor General says states should ensure timely salaries of doctors, medical staff
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta tells Supreme Court, that the Central government has already issued a circular saying that the salaries must be paid to doctors and other health care staff. The country’s top law official said that the chief secretaries of states must ensure that the Centre’s order is implemented effectively. Any violation of the order will attract punishment, Mehta asserted.
The Solicitor General was responding to a plea filed in Supreme Court seeking for separate facilities and timely salaries for COVID-19 frontline health workers, including doctors and other related staff.
Gujarat’s COVID-19 tally rises to 24,628
Gujarat recorded 524 new COVID cases, taking the total tally to 24,628. The fatalities count increased to 1,533 as per the union health ministry’s data. While 17,082 COVID-19 patients have recovered, the state at present has 5,962 active cases
64 COVID-19 deaths in Jammu and Kashmir so far
Jammu and Kashmir recorded one coronavirus related death, taking the number of fatalities count in the Union territory to 64. A 65-year-old COVID-19 positive man, who was admitted to SKIMS Hospital Soura, breathed his last today.
Delhi coronavirus tally tops 44,000
Delhi has recorded 1,859 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the city to over 44,688. According to the union health ministry, the national capital has 26,351 active cases. The death toll from COVID-19 has surged to 1,837.
Agra coronavirus situation continues to be grim
Agra has reported three deaths and 18 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The Taj City has recorded 1,088 COVID-19 cases, 67 fatalities and the current active case number is 139. Firozabad district administration has imposed a total lockdown for three days in Tundla and Sirsaganj.
Punjab appoints civil surgeons to define activities in containment zones
In an attempt to define containment zones with large outbreaks of COVID-19 cases and activities to be done in containment zones, Punjab Government said that district technical committees headed by civil surgeons have been constituted to demarcate exact boundaries of specific area in all districts.
Nagaland COVID-19 tally rises to 181
Nagaland has reported two new cases of Novel coronavirus, taking the total tally to 181. The eastern state has 78 active cases amd 103 people have been recovered so far, Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said.
Delhi corona cases tally mount to 44,688; death toll at 1,837
Delhi recorded a massive spike in the COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday. The Delhi Health Department bulletin said that 437 deaths were reported in a day, taking the fatalities count to 1,837. The national capital has reported 44,688 COVID-19 cases so far.
80 people working in Uttar Pradesh CM helpline centre test positive
At least 80 people working for the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s helpline service in Lucknow have tested positive for COVID-19. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last year launched the chief minister’s helpline number ‘1076’ to help people directly connect to the Chief Minister’s Office.
