Indian Commerce Secretary SR Rao left for Islamabad on Thursday alongwith a 10-member official delegation for a two-day delegation level talks with the Pakistani team led by its Commerce Secretary Munir Qureshi.
The last India-Pakistan Commerce Secretary Level Talks were held in November 2011 in New Delhi.
Pakistan and India are likely to sign three agreements including, Agreement of Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs matters, Bilateral Cooperation Agreement between the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authorityand the Bureau of Indian Standards. Both the countries will also sign agreement on Redressal of Trade Grievances.
Issues like increasing air connectivity and commencing trade in petroleum products are expected to figure in the two-day Commerce Secretary Level Talks between India and Pakistan.
Both sides will discuss various issues including development on negative list between the two countries and bilateral trade.
Talks wills review development in broad areas of cooperation, including power and petroleum products, opening of branches of banks in each other country.
The issues of Pakistan gradually phasing out of Negative List subsequently leading to full accord of most favoured nation (MFN) status to India, opening of Wagah land route and preferential arrangements under SAFTA will also be discussed.
