India today said that Pakistani army is involved in the mutilation of bodies of Indian solders at the Line of Control and it has been conveyed to Islamabad.
Briefing media in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay said, New Delhi has sufficient evidence of it. He said, the attack was preceded by covering fire from Pakistani posts in the vicinity of village Battal.
He said samples of the Indian soldiers and the trail of blood on Roza Nala clearly shows that the killers returned across the Line of Control after committing the heinous crime.
Mr Baglay said, India considers the mutilation of its soldiers as an act beyond all norms of civility and also a strong act of provocation by the neighbouring country.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Dr S. Jaishankar summoned Pakistan High Commissioner and demanded action against Pakistani soldiers and commanders responsible for the act. Mr Baglay said Pakistani High Commissioner said he will convey New Delhi’s concern to the Pakistani government.
On Monday, Pakistani army and its border action team ambushed a joint patrol party of the Indian Army and the BSF and mutilated bodies of one Sub. Major and a head constable.
In reply to a query sending back a group of Pakistani school children, Mr Baglay said children were invited by one of the NGO and it has been conveyed to the NGP by MEA that it not not an appropriate time for such exchange programmes in view of tensions at the Line of Control.
On a review of Most Favoured Nation status granted to Pakistan, the spokesperson said,MFN status to Pakistan is an obligation under WTO members and all members have to extend it to each other.
Asked about mediation over Kashmir issue, Mr Baglay said India’s position is very clear that entire Jammu and Kashmir is bilateral issue and third party mediation is not permissible.
On isolating Pakistan, he said, the world community is with India in its fight against cross border terrorism.
