The External Affairs Ministry Thursday stated that India has not conceded any territory as a result of disengagement agreement with China. Replying to a query on disengagement in Ladakh, Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said India has enforced observance and respect for LAC and has prevented any unilateral change in status quo. He urged that the mutual redeployment as a result of this agreement should not be misrepresented.
The spokesperson said both sides view the smooth and successful completion of disengagement in the North and South Bank of Pangong Lake in Eastern Ladakh as a significant first step as this forms a basis for resolution of remaining issues so as to achieve the eventual goal of complete disengagement in all friction areas. The two sides have agreed to work towards a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues.
