Government today said that India has exported 23 lakh Personal Protective Equipment PPE kit to five countries in one month. These countries are USA, UK, UAE, Senegal and Slovenia. Union Health Ministry said this has substantially aided India to position itself in the global export market of PPEs.
In view of the strengthened domestic production capacity, last month, the Government had permitted export of PPEs. The Ministry said, the Make in India spirit embedded in the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan has resulted in providing resilience and self-sufficiency to the country for various medical equipment including PPEs.
Centre has distributed one crore 28 lakh PPEs to States, Union Territories and Central Institutions, free of cost. The Ministry said, States are also procuring the PPEs, N95 masks and ventilators. It said, between March to August this year, States have procured one crore 40 lakh indigenous PPEs from their own budgetary resources.
