Candidates who have contested the recent elections are being urged to ensure clarity, if they feel the election outcome doesn’t align with their expectations, they should focus on verifying results from strong polling booths capable of delivering substantial votes.

When 28 opposition party leaders gathered at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence at 10 Rajaji Marg, they discussed various topics, including the utilization of Form 17C to pinpoint polling booths where candidates have strong support.

Following the recent Supreme Court directive, candidates who secured the second or third position and harbor doubts regarding the outcome of the results can challenge their results within seven days from the declaration date, at their own expense and can select EVM machine from respective assembly segment of their own accord as per ECI’ s guidelines.

In the event of any discrepancies, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will undertake appropriate measures. A presentation will be conducted, addressing key counting-related aspects and incorporating the directives from the Apex court.

If candidates have doubts about the vote count at a polling booth, their agents can alert officials and mark the discrepancy on a paper sheet. After the results are announced, candidates can choose specific EVM machines for verification. The selection won’t be random; only candidates have the right to pick up to five percent of the total EVM machines from their Lok Sabha constituency.
