SUSHMA 3External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said that India attaches utmost importance to its relations with the US and is committed to take the relations to a new level. Interacting with media after talks with her US counterpart Rex Tillerson in New Delhi, Mrs. Swaraj said that defence relations have deepened between the two countries in the recent past. She said terrorism was discussed with the US Secretary of State.

Mrs. Swaraj said the two countries are of the view that no country in the world should provide safe heavens to terror groups and Pakistan should take action against terror outfits without any discrimination. She said they also discussed security concerns in Indo-Pacific region.

Mrs. Swaraj said India and US enjoy greater economic relations and innovation and economic relations should be further strengthened. Mr. Tillerson told media that US stands shoulder-to-shoulder with India in its fight against terrorism.

He said the US appreciates the role of India in Afghanistan. Mr. Tillerson said the two countries have robust trade and economic relations and US is willing to cooperate with India in different sectors. The US Secretary of State arrived in New Delhi last night. Later, in the day he will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
