New Delhi will take a decision on the issue of importing oil from Iran keeping in view it’s national interest and energy security needs. Sources said in New Delhi, India is an oil dependent economy and it has to secure its energy interests.
This comes in the backdrop of US sanctions on Iran. They said, India is waiting for the US team to discuss the issue of oil imports from Iran. A clearer picture can be expected on the issue within a month but at present there is a need to wait for the outcome of the talks on the issue.
On Maldives, the sources said, political process in that country should resume at the earliest. They said, India is acting as a responsible stakeholder and whatever is happening there is their internal matter.
However, they said, India does not want people to suffer at all and India will continue to raise concern on work permit to Indians. They hoped that international pressure will work and soon all stakeholders in Maldives will engage towards resumption of political process.
Sources also said, India will also hold maritime dialogue with China and Russia soon. Dates of visit of Chinese Defence Minister to India are being finalised. They added RBI has also issued license to Bank of China to have its branch in India.
