IMD has issued Orange alert in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts of Kerela, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. Yellow alert has been issued in eight districts of the state.The State Disaster Management Authority has asked public to avoid night travel to the hilly regions, in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall. It said, those living in downstream areas of rivers should be prepared to shift to safer places in the event of release of excess water from dams.
