Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar today. He reached Srinagar this morning to review overall security situation in the valley.
The Governor and the Home Secretary held extensive discussions about issues relating to effective maintenance of law and order.
They also discussed matters relating to the security situation along the International Border and Line of Control, increasing attempts at infiltration and rising incidence of terrorism in the Valley.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Mehrishi also discussed the overall situation in the state with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at her residence.
The Union Home Secretary is scheduled to hold meeting with top civil, police and army officers to review the security situation.
His visit comes a day after a young Kashmiri Army officer was abducted and killed by unidentified terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
