Germany beat Pakistan 1-0 in a hard fought Pool-D match of men’s World Cup in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier in the evening, Jeroen Hertzberger scored a hat-trick to help last edition silver medallist the Netherlands spank a hapless Malaysia 7-0 in a lopsided opening encounter.

Tomorrow, in Pool-C Matches, Canada meet South Africa at 5 p.m. and India play Belgium at 7 p.m.

 Netherlands thrash Malaysia 7-0 in Pool-D match in Bhubaneshwar

On day four of Men’s Hockey World Cup, the Netherlands thrash this year’s Asian Games silver medallist Malaysia 7-0 in a Pool-D match at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar.

While Jeroen Hertzberger of Netherlands scored three goals, Mirco Pruijser, Mink van der Weerden, Robbert Kemperman and Thierry Brinkman one each. At half-time, the Netherlands was leading by 3-0.

The second match between four-time champions Pakistan and sixth-ranked Germany is under way.
