Andhra Pradesh Hindu dharmik organisations condemned the demolition of temples by the government in Vijayawada city to facilitate road widening works for the forthcoming Krishna Pushkarams.
In a public meeting held in the city yesterday several sadhus and swamijis who addressed the gathering demanded that the State government dismiss Krishna District Collector and the Municipal Commissioner.
They also wanted Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas to tender an unconditional apology for the comments he made.
Even though the State government had promised to rebuild the temples at the same places, the swamijis alleged that there was an ulterior motive in demolishing the temples.
