Heavy and torrential rains have wreaked havoc in Pakistan, killing at least 31 people and injuring 47 others. The seasonal downpour started in Balochistan province on Thursday and after that hit other parts of the country where sporadic rainfall is still going on.
According to Pakistan’s Disaster Management Authority, 17 of those killed were in Balochistan, 13 in tribal region and one in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in the north-west.
The rains also destroyed 53 houses. There are also reports of heavy damage to wheat crop in south Punjab. Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of more heavy rains and flash floods in hilly areas in the next couple of days.
