Over 62 thousand people are affected in the current surge of water in 8 districts of Assam. Several rivers are flowing above the danger level. 23 thousand people have been affected only at Jonai area in Dhemaji district.
Bihar is witnessing heavy rainfall since early morning today in almost all districts of Bihar. The water level of several rivers including Ganga, Bagmati and Burhi Gandak is increasing following incessant rains throughout the state.
Maximum 100 millimetres rain was recorded in Bhagalpur while over 55 millimetres rainfall was recorded in Patna. A warning has been issued in Muzaffarpur also.
In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rains lashed different parts of the state today throwing life out of gear in many cities. The almost entire state is receiving rainfall from the last 24 hours.
Bihar: Met dept forecasts heavy rainfall in next 72 hrs
Monsoon is active across Bihar for past three days. Met department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in next 72 hours as a monsoon trough line is passing through the state.
Some parts received average 70 mm rainfall in three days. Water level of rivers like Gandak, Bagmati, Ganga and Kosi have touched the danger mark. Flood has been sounded across the Indo Nepal border in Gandak riverine area in West Champaran district after release of 1 lakh cusec water from Valmiki Nagar Gandak barrage.
Teams of NDRF has been deployed in flood prone areas for relief and rescue work. Heavy rain lashed normal life in the state. Low line areas of Patna and other cities witnessing heavy water logging. Patna municipal corporation has set up combat team for redressal of problems.
