Due to low pressure over west Bay of Bengal heavy rain lashed most parts of Odisha last night. Nabarangpur District recorded 227mm rainfall during last 24 hours. Gajapati, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Jajapur, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Puri, Anugul, kendrapada, Khurda, Nayagarh districts have received heavy rainfall last night. Many localities in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri have been waterlogged. In many areas, the ground floor has been submerged with rainwater.
Due to lightning, 17 people died in the state yesterday. Highest number 7died in Balasore district followed by 5 in Mayurbhanj. As per Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center, heavy rain is likely to occur at few places of the state by tomorrow.
