Heavy rain for last two days have led to widespread water-logging in Mumbai and its suburban making life difficult for the people.  Some of the areas which have witnessed severe water logging include Bandra, Dadar, Matunga, Sion.Trees have also been uprooted in Mumbai Central due to strong winds. Due to water logging on railway tracks between Sion and Matunga, suburban trains on Central line were affected for a while. Western and Harbour suburban lines have also been affected. Vehicular traffic has been badly affected on Western and Eastern Express Highway. Air traffic has also been affected due to poor visibility. Mumbai airport is bracing for storm and heavy rains.

The city witnessed heavy rains throughout yesterday night. The rain recorded by the IMD Colaba observatory in the past 24 hours (8.30 am-8.30am) is 151.8 mm while Santacruz observatory recorded 88.4 mm rains. Mumbai suburban (Santacruz) weather station has recorded 86 Mm rains in past 3 hours and Mumbai City (Colaba Station) has recorded just 15-16 mm rains from 8.30 am to 11.30 am.

DDG , IMD, Mumbai Region, KS Hosalikar said that heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for all over Maharashtra especially Northern Konkan which includes Mumbai. The department attributed the heavy showers to two weather systems currently active over the region. The Meteorological Department says it is continuously watching the rain, cloud developments and updating concerned authorities about it.
