The India Meteorological Department has forecast heatwave conditions over the Northwest, Central and Eastern parts of the country for the next few days. The IMD said heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are expected over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi till Tuesday. These conditions have also commenced over Eastern and Central parts of the country from today.
According to IMD, Isolated heavy to hefty rainfall will likely continue over southern parts of India until the 23rd of this May. The weather department said that isolated hefty rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Karnataka till Tuesday. According to IMD, there is a possibility of isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Kerala on the 20th and 21st of May.
In East India, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and Meghalaya till Monday. The maximum temperatures over many parts of Northwest, Central and East India are expected to increase gradually by about 2-4 degrees Celsius for the next 3-4 days. Mainly clear skies and heatwave conditions are predicted in Delhi today. The maximum temperature is likely to be recorded at 44 degrees Celsius.
