Haryana police have registered an FIR against seven people in alleged gangrape case in Murthal. Deputy Inspector General of Haryana Police (DIG) Rajshree Singh informed this to media in a press conference in Chandigarh today.

She said that an FIR has been registered at the Mahila Police Thana on the complaint of the victim. She hoped, as one victim came forward with her complaint, some other victims may also come forward.

The survivor alleged that while she was travelling in a car, some of the protestors demonstrating on the night of February 22 and February 23 during the Jat agitation, broke the windows of her car.

There were other ladies in the car too, but they ran away soon after the attack. The attackers took her in an isolated place and gangraped her. The victim has also alleged that the culprits were known to her.

Police have received conflicting statements from eyewitnesses, which added to the confusion over the earlier allegations that women were pulled out of cars and gangraped at Haryana’s Murthal village.
