A Special Investigation Team, SIT has been formed to probe the death of a Dalit boy in Gohana. The two Assistant Sub Inspectors, who were earlier booked in the case on murder charges following allegations from the family that he died in police custody, have also been booked under sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on the direction of National Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Commission.

The report of postmortem, which was conducted by a board of doctors, suggests that the boy died due to hanging.

The Rohtak Range Inspector General of Police, Shrikant Jadhav told that there was also a mark on victim’s neck.

Superintendent of Sonipat Police, said that SIT will be headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officer Amit Bhatia. He said that situation in Gohana town is now peaceful.

Earlier, the police claimed that the boy was not questioned and he had fled from police station. Yesterday Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Ashok Tanwar had demanded CBI inquiry into the case.
