Haryana government today submitted Parkash Singh Committee report to Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Committee was constituted to probe the acts of omission and commission during the Jat rerservation stir.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had granted interim stay on last thursday on reservation given to Jats and five other castes in Haryana. The reservation was challenged in the court on the grounds that it was in violation of Supreme Court orders. The court has fixed July 21 next date of hearing.
The government of Haryana had approved the Haryana Backward Classes (Reservation in Services and Admission in Educational Institutions) Bill.
The bill enlists the Jats, Bishnois, Tyagis, and Rors in the recently sculpted Backward Classes (C) category, making them eligible for 10 per cent reservation in class 3 and 4 posts, and 6 per
cent reservation in class 1 and 2 jobs.
