UNION Home Minister Amit Shah today said that Mizoram is the symbol of the most peaceful state in the country. He was addressing a gathering at Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, after the inauguration of the North East Handloom and Handicraft Exhibition at Government Mizo High School field at Zarkawt.

Home Minister said handloom and handicraft have given scope to provide employment and prosperity of North-East including Mizoram. Handloom will play a bigger role for progress of the region, he said. He further said that the state referral hospital of 40 crore rupees is on way. State sports academy in Aizawl is on way.

He said Modi govt has decided to make bamboo treated as a grass pecies so that it is economically available to local people. From this decision, the best benefit will be for the northeast. He said PM Modi has relentlessly contemplated to take the region to move ahead and achieve more progress. In the last 5 years more projects have been in force in region and Mizoram, Shah said.

Home Minister said Rail link with Vairabi will help linking Aizawl with rail network soon. He added that PM Modi is very much keen to get any project proposal from the Mizoram government. He said the present central government is ready to provide all sorts of help to projects from the state.

MoS for DonER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh at North East handloom, handicraft exhibition at Aizawl said PM Modi has given exclusive time to different groups and talks about different projects from the region. He said Modi govt resolved and made a commitment to special focus to this regional development and for harmonious growth of mother India.

Modi Govt focuses on aspirational districts. Land border agreement with Myanmar has done. Works are going on to link by Broadgage Rail project in the state and also a project of Inland water started with Myanmar. He said the centre has approved 43 projects worth Rs 300crore and more 50 NEC projects have been approved, Dr Singh said.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga applauded the initiative of the NEC. He said his government has mooted plans to make Mizoram highest per capita income state in the country.
