Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah has unveiled a grand wall mural of Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Riverfront on martyr day today. The grand wall mural has been made from 2975 clay earthen kulhads by 75 trained potters across the country.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Shah said that Mahatma Gandhi’s principles are very much relevant in present time also. He said that Mahatma Gandhi had not only led and fought India’s freedom struggle, but also gave the remedies to rebuild Independent India- through his principles like Swadeshi, Swa-Bhasha, Satyagrah, prayers, fasting, Aparigrah and simplicity.
He said that the principles like Swadeshi, Swabhasha, Khadi and handicrafts were forgotten after the Indepence. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revived all these principles of Bapu after came into power.
Mr. Shah said that Prime Minister Modi has revived the Khadi movement of Mahatma Gandhi in the country. He said that the turnover of the Khadi industry in the country has reached up to 95 thousand crore rupees today, which is a matter of pride for all of us.
Mr. Shah said that the main aim of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to acknowledge the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters. He said that the other aim is to take the resolution to rebuild a new India after 100 years of Independence on the occasion of 75 years of India’s Independence.
He said that the New Education Policy has focused on Swabhasha for imparting knowledge among the new generation. He said that Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local are the new definitions of Swadeshi.
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium enterprises Narayan Rane also spoke on this occasion.
Two minutes of silence was observed to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country. The grand wall mural has been made from 2975 clay kulhads by 75 trained potters across the country.
The mural- measuring 100 square metres has been created by arranging earthen kulhads on an aluminium sheet to form the Mahatma Gandhi’s visage.
