The Gujarat government has announced a series of new restrictions following a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in the state. According to the official announcement, night curfew will be imposed in 10 cities from 10 pm to 6 am from today. Similarly, the offline classes of standard 1 to 9 will remain closed till 31st January. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that the Gujarat government has already postponed the ambitious Vibrant Summit 2022 along with a series of other functions like holistic healthcare summit and Ahmedabad flower show.
According to new guidelines, the night curfew will be effective from 10 pm to 6 am in the top ten cities. These cities are Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Gandhinagar, Anand and Nadiad. Shops and commercial complexes can remain open till 10 pm, however hotels and restaurants will operate with 75 per cent capacity. Political, social, educational, cultural and religious gatherings will be permitted for a maximum 400 persons in open and at 50 per cent capacity in closed doors.
Maximum 400 persons allowed in wedding functions, while 100 persons allowed in burial services. Public and private transport will be exempted from night curfew with 75 percent capacity. However, Cinema Hall, multiplexes, Gyms, swimming pools and auditorium will be allowed to operate with 50 percent capacity. Gujarat has reported 5396 new cases of Covid-19 infections yesterday.
