Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday said that NDA government was working on five big schemes for large cities which include Swachh Bharat Mission, and Smart Cities Mission.

He was addressing the gathering after inauguration of various urban development projects at Shehari Vikas Mahotsav in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Mr Modi said, if village is the soul of our country, the city is its energy centre.

The Prime Minister said, the credit for success story of Indore city goes to the public. He said, people of Indore have given a very good example of the spirit of cooperation and public participation.

He said, a total of 8 crore 30 thousand toilets have been constructed out of which over 65 lakh toilets have been built in Madhya Pradesh alone. The Prime Minister said, the soon to be launched 5 lakh rupees per family National Heath protection Scheme is going to be a big boost for healthcare of the poor.

Mr Modi also distributed the Cleanliness Survey-2018 Awards to the cleanest cities and best performing States. He gave away awards to the representatives of first three cities Indore, Bhopal and Chandigarh, who are winners of Urban Cleanliness Survey 2018. Mr Modi also awarded winner states Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

The Prime Minister dedicated developmental works worth 4 thousand 7 hundred crore rupees in Indore today. The ambitious Urban Transport Scheme ‘Sutra Seva’ of Madhya Pradesh government was also inaugurated on this occasion.

The Prime Minister also dedicated 23 works undertaken in 5 smart cities including Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain under Smart City Mission.

Apart from this, Mr Modi inaugurated drinking water schemes of 14 urban areas under the Chief Minister’s Urban Drinking Water Scheme during the programme. He also dedicated Integrated Solid Waste Management Project in Katni.

Earlier in the day at Rajgarh district , Prime Minister dedicated Mohanpura Dam Project worth over 3 thousand 8 hundred crore rupees to the nation. This project will facilitate irrigation to 1 lakh 34 thousand hectares of agricultural land in more than seven hundred villages.

It will also provide drinking water to over 400 villages in the area. On this occasion, he also laid foundation stone of various drinking water schemes in the district.

Addressing a public meeting, Mr Modi said, the hard work of common man of the state has made the projects possible. He said, the people of Madhya Pradesh continue to have immense faith on the policies of the BJP Government in the state.

Mr Modi accused the opposition of spreading lies, confusion and pessimism. He said, in the last four years at the Centre and 13 years in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP had worked for the uplift and empowerment of poor, farmers and deprived sections of society. He said, when the Congress ruled the state, Madhya Pradesh was called a BIMARU state.

The Prime Minister also paid tributes to Jana Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary and said it was his vision to strengthen education, health, finance, and security.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and several other dignitaries were also present in the day long events.
