Government will introduce Triple Talaq Bill in Rajya Sabha today. Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad will move the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill in the Upper House.
The Lok Sabha has already passed the Bill. Government has urged the Congress not to press for amendments to the Bill which seeks to criminalise the practice of instant divorce among Muslims.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anant Kumar said, the government would like the Congress to maintain the stand it took in the Lok Sabha by not pressing for amendments.
He said government is in talks with Congress and other Opposition Parties for the smooth passage of the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
