To cap prices of 350 new drugs

Chemicals and Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar today said Government will amend Drugs Prices Control norms in 15 days for capping prices of 350 new drugs. Addressing the foundation day of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) in New Delhi, he said the prices of nearly 900 medicines have been capped under the Drugs Prices Control Order.

The minister further said the NPPA would fix the prices of all the remaining medicines in National List of Essential Medicines in a couple of months.

The minister said government will open 3,000 Pradhanmantri Jan Aushadhi stores across the country to make medicines available at an affordable price . At present, there are over 400 such stores are functional.

Mr. Kumar also launched a new mobile app ‘Pharma Sahi Daam’ to help customers to know the price of medicines capped by the NPPA.
