Congress Saturday alleged that government is targeting opposition leaders by using CBI against them. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad termed CBI raids at Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, as political vendetta.
Mr Azad said his party deprecates politics of revenge and resolves to fight autocratic and vendetta driven politics of BJP.
His reaction came close on the heels of a disproportionate assets case against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and CBI raids at around 11 places in the state, including at his residence in Shimla, and in Delhi.
Azad said registration of a disproportionate assets case and the raids were unfortunate and vindictive given the fact that an Income Tax case of the chief minister is pending with the IT tribunal.
Mr Azad wondered why the Prime Minister did not initiate similar action against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the Lalit Modi row and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the Vyapam scam.
