Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said the government is ready to discuss every issue on the floor of both the Houses of Parliament including JNU and Hyderabad university row besides reservation for Jats. Mr Naidu told an all party meeting that everybody has opportunity to raise issues but discussion should take place according to rules.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister urged the opposition to adopt positive approach during the Budget session beginning tomorrow. He said there should be debate, discussion but without disruption. He said, Goods and Services Tax and Real Estate are two key reform bills which need to be passed in the session.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Samajwadi party leader Ram Gopal Yadav and Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay are present in the meeting.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has also convened an all-party meeting this evening to discuss the smooth functioning of the house during the Budget Session.
The meeting is significant amid possibility of the session being stormy. The opposition parties are gearing up to raise the issues of JNU row, and suicide of a Hyderabad University student among others to corner the government.
On the other hand, the government is keen to push its legislative agenda including the GST and Real Estate Bills. During the session, the Rail Budget will be presented on 25th and General Budget on 29th of this month. Since it is the first session of the new calendar year, it will begin with the address of President Pranab Mukherjee to the joint sitting of the two Houses.
The Rajya Sabha, where the NDA lacks majority, had seen repeated disruption in the Monsoon and Winter sessions with Congress and several other opposition parties blocking key economic reform measures of the government.
