Union Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today assured the Rajya Sabha that BSNL is making operating profits for the last few months and will turn around. He was responding to a Zero Hour mention raised by K N Balgopal of the CPIM. The Minister denied the opposition allegation that BSNL is playing at the hands some private telecom operators.
Mr Prasad said that the government is ready for a discussion on the functioning of BSNL and MTNL. Sitaram Yechury of the CPIM expressed concern over the frequent call drops terming it as unreasonable and unbearable. Ramgopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party wanted to know whether phone tapping is taking place.
