Gives notice for adjournment motion notice in LS

Accusing government for protection liquor Barron Vijay Mallya, the Congress today gave an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha saying industrialist fled India despite the CBI issuing a lookout notice against him.
The Congress accused the Central government of helping Mallya leave the country. Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad questioned the government on why Vijay Mallya was not arrested why his passport was not seized.
In the Rajya sabha, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh too reiterated that Mallya should not have been allowed to leave the country. To this, finance minister Arun Jaitley said the CBI is probing the case and the banks will recover every penny from Mallya. He said, Mallya left India even before the banks moved the Supreme Court.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha, Opposition Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, four different agencies are investigating frauds to the tune of over nine thousand crores by Mallya and his business houses. Azad denied having recommended any loan and demanded action against political leaders involved and banking officials, if any, for one of the biggest financial frauds.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, the original loan and its restructuring despite defaults committed by Mallya’s companies, were done during the UPA regime. He said, the businessman was given undue benefits, despite defaulting bank loans. Jaitley said, his assets in the country have been attached and the money due to public sector banks will be recovered.
Jairam Ramesh of Congress charged, despite the banks moving the courts on 28 February to stop Mallya from travelling abroad, he was allowed to flee three days later. Meanwhile Naresh Agarwal of Samajwadi Party demanded to refer the case of Vijya Mallya, who is a sitting member of Upper House, to the Ethics Committee. Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien agreed to the suggestion.
Banks to take actions to recover loan amount from Mallya’s companies: Jaitley
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said the banks will take all possible actions to recover loan amount extended to the companies owned by Vijay Mallya. Responding to questions raised by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, in the Lok Sabha, Mr Jaitley said the banks have started taking action against the companies to recover the debt.
He said till 30th November 2015, the total dues compounding with interest is to the tune of over nine thousand crore rupees against Vijay Mallya’s companies. He said some cases were filed in different courts across the country and some counter-cases were also registered.
Finance minister said the first installment of loan was given to the company in September 2004 and later in 2008. He said the accounts of the companies were declared non performing accounts on 30th April 2009.
