UNION Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the government is making all-out efforts to provide a regime where there is no need to file Right to Information (RTI) as the information is made available in public domain.
He said that the government is providing all the information to the people through the on-line dashboard in a transparent manner. The Home Minister was addressing the 14th Annual Convention of the Central Information Commission (CIC) here today.
He stated that RTI has played an important role in retaining the public confidence towards administration. He stressed that India is a country which has succeeded in establishing an information system to the bottom rung.
The Home Minister said, RTI has played an important role in establishing an administration without injustice and corruption. He said, over 5 lakh employees are working to provide information to people under RTI and this number is more than any other country in the world who implemented RTI.
Citing an example on the better use of technology to bring transparency, Mr. Shah informed that the construction work of the road leading to Kedarnath, is being monitored through a drone. Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh said, it is the efforts of the government that now there is no need to wait for the government office to open for filing RTI as it can be filed round the clock. Chief Information Commissioner Sudhir Bhargava emphasized on better use of information technology to benefit RTI to the people in remote areas.
