The Rural Development minister Chaudhry Birender Singh today introduced the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Second Bill, 2015 in the Lok Sabha.
The opposition members from Congress, Trinamool Congress, NCP, CPI(M), RSP and BJD opposed the Bill before its introduction. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge raised the question that the Lower House has already passed the Bill earlier and what is the point for introducing it again. Mr Kharge said this Bill is against the interest of farmers.
TMC leader Saugata Roy and BJD leader Bhartruhari Mahtab also questioned the introduction of the Bill saying earlier the Lok Sabha had passed the Bill. Rejecting the opposition charges, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said no identical Bill is pending in the Lok Sabha. Later, members belonging to Congress , TMC and NCP staged a walk out.
