Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, DGCA Chief Bharat Bhusan said that the new system will be computerized. However, no time frame has been given for putting the new system to be in place.
The decision comes in the wake of incidents of several pilots having fake certificates recruited in some airlines coming to the fore. Many such pilots have been removed and arrested. Early this week, the controversial Director of air safety at the DGCA, R.S. Passi, was removed from his position. The disciplinary action was taken after Spice Jet wrote to DGCA chief Bharat Bhushan that Passi’s daughter, Garima Passi, got a job as a pilot with the airline under extraordinary circumstances.
