The government has extended the date of linking of PAN with Aadhaar number by six months till 30th of September. Earlier, the last date was till March 31st.
In a statement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT said, the decision to extend the deadline was taken in view of the media reports that those PANs which are not linked with Aadhaar number by 31st of this month may be invalidated.
CBDT has also made it clear that from tomorrow it is mandatory to quote and link Aadhaar number while filing the return of income.
