Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Thursday said in the Rajya Sabha that the government was committed to act against those involved in lynching and acts of violence in the name of cow vigilantism in the country.
Responding to a short duration discussion on incidents of lynching and atrocities on minorities and dalits across the country, he said the Centre has asked the State governments to take stern action against the culprits.
He condemned the lynching incidents, saying no one has a right to take the law into his hands. Mr. Jaitley said the perpetrators have been charge-sheeted and sent to jail. They all will be prosecuted.
Earlier, Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir also condemned the attacks by cow vigilantes. He assured the House that dalits and minorities will be fully protected.
