The Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has said that recognising the significant role of higher education in laying foundation of a developed India, the central government has prioritised the new education policy. She was speaking in a program organized by Deccan College Deemed University in Pune on Saturday.
She said that for the three to four decades prior to 2014 no substantial provision was made for higher education by the then central government, however, since 2014, the central government has taken many important decisions for laying the foundation of higher education. She said that IITs and All India Institute of Medical Sciences have also contributed significantly in building of business-oriented higher education institutions. She expressed confidence that the new education policy will bring revolutionary changes in the higher education sector.
Vice Chancellor Pramod Pandey and Dy. Vice Chancellor Prasad Joshi of the university were present on the occasion.
