Darjeeling /
Army columns are patrolling in Darjeeling district head quarters and other areas to maintain peace, law and order in view of the indefinite Bandh call given by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha from Monday. Police and Paramilitary forces have raided several parts of Hill districts and so far arrested 5 Morcha supporters including one woman.
As already reported the call for the bandh is against the State Government’s newly announced language policy and also for the demand of a separate Gorkha Land.
State administration has taken a tough stand against the processed bandh. A government circular issued today said that all government offices in the hill district will remain open during the bandh and all employees have to attend their duties without any fail.
